Rothenstein, William

Rothenstein, William
(1872-1945)
   English artist. He was born in Bradford. He studied in London, Paris and Oxford. During World War I he served as a war artist, and then became professor of civic art at the University of Sheffield. From 1920 to 1935 he was principal of the Royal College of Art. He painted portraits, still-lifes and landscapes, as well as Jewish subjects and synagogue interiors.
